Daniel Marius Onofraş (born 17 August 1980 in Iaşi) is a former Romanian professional football player, who last played for Dacia Unirea Brăila . He played as a winger, mainly on the right side, but he also played as a right midfielder or as a striker.[1]

Career

Politehnica Iaşi and Braşov

Marius Onofraş started his career at hometown club Politehnica Iaşi, moving through the youth systems and making his debut in the senior squad in 1998.[2]

Wanting to play in the Romanian Liga I, he moved to FC Braşov.[3] Onofraş had a successful spell at FC Braşov playing also in the UEFA Europa League. He left the team in 2004.

He then rejoined his hometown club Politehnica Iaşi, now playing in Liga I. With his good game he helped maintain the team in the first tier of Romanian football.

Unirea Urziceni

Being spotted by Unirea Urziceni manager Dan Petrescu as a great talent he was bought alongside Politehnica Iaşi teammate Valeriu Bordeanu. He later signed a four and a half year contract with the Urziceni team.[4]

He went on to win the 2008–09 Liga I and play in UEFA Champions League, where he scored a goal in a 4-1 win against Rangers F.C..[5]

Steaua Bucureşti

On 31 August 2010 he signed a contract with Steaua Bucureşti alongside team mates from Unirea Urziceni: Galamaz, Ricardo, Marinescu, Apostol, Bilaşco and next week Brandán. On 11 March 2011, Onofraş scored first goal for Steaua against Victoria Brăneşti in a Liga I away match, helping Steaua win 1-0.

In June 2011, Onofraş left Steaua.

Khazar Lankaran

In the summer of 2011 he joined Azerbaijan team Khazar Lankaran.[6] In August, after only two matches, Onofraş left the team.

CSMS Iaşi

In the same month he signed a two-year contract with his hometown club CSMS Iaşi.[7]

On 3 September Onofraş scored a winning goal against Gloria Buzău in extra time, bringing all the points to his team.[8] In a game against Dunărea Galaţi the player scored a goal only to help the team earn a draw.[9]

Although there were talks that Onofraş will leave the team in the winter break,[10] the player confirmed that he is committed to bringing the team to the Liga I.[11]

On April 28, 2012, Onofraş scored the last two goals in the 4-2 victory against CS Otopeni.[12] CSMS Iaşi turned the score around from 0-2 to stay in the fight for promotion.[13] On June 2, Onofraș captained his team to a 4-2 victory against Farul Constanța, to help CSMS win the league and earn promotion to Liga I.[14]
