Maroa-Forsyth High School, "MFHS" is a four-year public high school located in Maroa, Illinois. Maroa is located between Forsyth and Clinton and is near Bloomington, Illinois. It serves students in the Forsyth, Maroa, and Decatur area. The school mascot is a Trojan and the school colors are blue and gold.[1]
Academics
For the 2013-2014 school year the average ACT score was 22.0, the average class size was 14.1, and 68.3% of students met or exceeded the Illinois Learning Standards for the PSAE.[2]
Athletics
Maroa-Forsyth is known for their outstanding football program under head coach Josh Jostes. Other athletics include: volleyball, baseball, soccer, tennis, track, cross country, non-competitive cheer leading, competitive dance, golf and basketball.
Recent Achievements
Emilee Oliver makes ILMEA All-State Honors Choir and National Anthem Award two years running. (2014 and 2015)
Football team qualifies for state 2015.
Scholastic Bowl goes to Nationals 2015.
Alex Ruwe is selected as one of the top 5 interviewers in the state of Illinois 2015.
Cassie Crouch received Illinois Association of Vocational Agriculture Teacher's Award 2015.
Notable Alumni
Robo Kreps, class of 2007, went on to play professional basketball and is now head basketball coach for MFHS.
Amber Patton, class of 2003, went on to play softball for DePaul University and played pre-softball for Chicago.
William Whiteman, class of 1990, is the first U.S Navy Intelligence Officer to receive multiple Purple Hearts since the Vietnam War following combat tours in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom.
Jeff Query, class of 1985, Went on to play for green bay packers.
Kevin Koslofski, class of 1984, went on to play baseball for the Kansas City Royals as well as the Milwaukee Brewers.
Oliver Cain went on to become a Professional Wrestler.
John Lorenz, class of 1965, set professional motorcycle national drag racing records. Motorcycle is in the Don Garlits Hall of Fame Museum in Ocala, FL
