Martin Wood is a television director who has been directing since the early 1990s. He has directed several episodes of the notable TV series Stargate: Atlantis. Specializing in science fiction, he has also directed for Stargate SG-1 (46 episodes), The Invisible Man (2000 series), and Earth: Final Conflict. In addition, Martin directed two TV specials on Sudden Infant Death Syndrome. He is also a co-writer for the web series, Sanctuary, starring Amanda Tapping and Christopher Heyerdahl.

Wood made his acting debut on the 200th episode of Stargate SG-1, portraying the director of the SG-1 parody Wormhole X-Treme. He appears on many Stargate DVD extras. He is also frequently an extra in the episodes that he directs. He is often assisting Sergeant Siler as a repairman using the oversized crescent wrench that is a crew inside joke. During the director's commentary for the episode The Serpent's Venom, Wood said that during rehearsals, Amanda Tapping, (Major Carter) would frequently surreptitiously pat his rear end whenever she passed him on set.

Some of Martin Wood's comments on Stargate Atlantis were: "Just act better." and "More Scottish accent."
