Also known as Bertha Brundage,[1] she was born in Louisville, Kentucky.[2] For much of her life, her family thwarted her desire to act on stage.[3]

On May 6, 1939, Brundage died in St. Mary's Hospital in Long Beach, California. She was survived by a sister and two brothers.[1]
