Mavis Steele (MBE) is a former lawn bowler born on 9 September 1928.

Mavis was born in Kenton, Middlesex and was awarded the Member of the British Empire (MBE) in 1983 for services to lawn bowls. She won eleven National titles including the singles in 1961, 1962 and 1969. She played for Sunbury Sports Club outdoors and the Egham club indoors. Her finest moment came when claiming the Gold medal in the fours during the 1981 World Outdoor Bowls Championship in Toronto.[1]
