Melinda O'Neal
Melinda O'Neal is a conductor of choral music and choral-orchestral music.
She received her doctoral and master's degrees in conducting from Indiana University and has a bachelor's degree in music education from Florida State University. Her mentors included Julius Herford, Jan Harrington, Fiora Contino, Helmuth Rilling, Marcel Couraud, John Nelson and Thomas Dunn.[1]
She was music director and conductor of the Handel Society of Dartmouth College from 1979–2004, and in 2002 co-founded the vocal ensemble Sonique. She was principal guest conductor of the Hanover Chamber Orchestra 1991-2004 and was guest conductor-in-residence at the Seattle Symphony Orchestra Chorale. She is now artistic director and conductor of Handel Choir of Baltimore[2] and continues half-time as professor of music at Dartmouth (1979–present), teaching courses in conducting and music theory.
