Mincio

Mincio (IPA: [ˈmintʃo]; Latin: Mincius) is a river in the Lombardy region of northern Italy.

Called the Sarca River before entering Lake Garda, it flows from there about 65 km past Mantua into the Po River.

The former lower part of its course had flowed into the Adriatic Sea near Adria until the bursting of the Cucca banks in 589, roughly following the course of the river that is currently known by the name of Canal Bianco; it had been a waterway from the sea to the lake until then.
