Moishe Mana
Moishe Mana (born in Tel Aviv, Israel) is an Israeli born American entrepreneur, real estate developer, art collector and philanthropist, most well known for his company Moishe's Moving Systems. Born into a family of Iraqi origins he grew up in the lower middle class Hativka neighborhood of Tel Aviv.[1]
In the United States he founded Moishe's Moving Systems which by 1990 had become the largest independent moving company in New York City. By 1995, it was the largest in the entire tri-state area. In a widely reported, New York City "Rags to Riches" story,[2] Moishe Mana began as a “man with a van.” Today, Moishe’s Moving owns a conglomerate of 15 companies including Moishe’s Guarantee Asset Management, Mana Fine Arts, Moishe’s Guarantee Wine Storage, GRM Document Management, Moishe’s Self Storage and Moishe's Mobile Storage.[3]
Later Mana began to collect contemporary art.[4] He then went on to develop and open Mana Contemporary complex on 35 acres in Jersey City, New Jersey.[5]
Currently Mana is developing a large scale mixed residential, business and art complex in the Wynwood neighborhood of Miami, Florida.[6][7] The proposed development, to be named Mana Wynwood[8] has garnered controversy related to its size.[9] However it also been reported that the plan could bring upwards of 30,000 jobs to the district.[10]
