Motorsport Network is an American-based multinational digital media company headquartered in Miami, Florida. It was created as a corporate restructuring in 2015 and it is the parent company of several digital companies including Motorsport.com, Motor1.com, Motorstore.com, Motorsport.tv, Autosport.com, Motorsportstats.com, FerrariChat.com, Giorgio Piola, Amalgam Collection and RideApart.com.[1]

History

In 2015, the company announced that The Motorsport Network would be created to restructure individual entities as subsidiaries. They established their headquarters in Miami and launched Motorstore.com, an an e-commerce platform in April 2016.[2]

In May 2017, Motorsport Network conducted a survey about Formula 1 in conjunction with Nielsen Sports, the survey revealed that there was a 44 percent increase in fan belief that Formula 1 is “the pinnacle of motorsport” and a 43 percent increase in fan belief that Formula 1 fields “the best drivers.”[3] The same month, Motorsport.com won Inside WEC, Ferrari Finali Mondiali and Sidetracked with Derek D awards for its coverage of international motorsport at the 38th Annual Telly Awards Show.[4]

In June 2017, the network launched a video series on the FIA Formula E championship in conjunction with TAG Heuer. The three-part series was shot in Monaco, New York and Las Vegas and was shown on Motorsport.com and Motor1.com.[5] In the same month, Motorsport Network appointed former NASCAR VP/Digital Media Colin Smith as the group CEO[6] and former FOX Sports and SPEED Channel exec Kevin Annison joined the group also in June as President of Motorsport.tv - the rebranded TV and OTT network the group purchased in 2016.[7]

The company owns and operates its offices in Miami, FL and London. As of 2017, The network now features its properties serve 81 countries in 17 languages and has 550 employees across the world who publish 27 global editions of its websites, social media channels and magazines.[8][9]

Major acquisitions

In May 2016, Motorsport Network acquired iconic English company Amalgam Holdings.[10] In October 2016, Motorsport Network bought the motorsport properties of Haymarket Media Group, which includes Autosport, F1 Racing and LAT Photographic. In November 2016, the company bought Motors TV. In April 2017, Motorsport Network bought Keith Sutton's and David Phipp's photographic archives.
