The MOWAG Pirat is a armored Infantery tank made by the company Mowag.

History and Development

Eleven prototypes in different versions of the MOWAG pirate were built from 1960 - 1975. Together with the Saurer Tartaruga the MOWAG Pirat have been tested by the Swiss Army. But the Swiss Army decided to buy the American M113 who was originally not seen as candidate of this evaluation. The MOWAG Pirat laid the foundation for the later Mowag 3M1 Pirat.

A prototype is now in the Full Military museum and a tank museum in Thun. [1] [2]
