Myrtle Scharrer Betz (1895-1992) was a resident of Caladesi Island in the early 1900s[1] and authored a book about her experiences. She was the daughter of 1880s homesteader Henry Scharrer who lived with her on the island. At the age of 87, Betz wrote the book,Yesteryear I Lived in Paradise (ISBN 9781597320337) telling on her life of the barrier island.[2] She is listed as a Great Floridian.
