Naive Song is a track created by Mirwais Ahmadzai, taken from his 2000 album Production.

Backgroung and release

Mirwais worked for 2 years on his album, and Naive Song was one of the last songs he composed for "Production". The song incorporate two sonic innovations at the time: it is among the first songs which used auto-tune effects throughout the track;[1] the song used a technique of chopping acoustic guitar that Mirwais became known for. There is another famous example of his technique on Don't Tell Me, which was the second single released from Madonna's Music, which Mirwais produced in 1999-2000.[2]

Several remixes were released for promoting the song. Dave Clark, Les rhythmes digitales and Olav Basoski contributed to help the song to chart at number 2 in the US Club dance Charts (Billboard listings from April 14, 2001).[3] Naive Song was released under French independent records label Naïve Records, which licences to Sony Music for worldwide distribution.

Music video

Jean Baptiste Mondino, who already made a video in 1983 for Mirwais's former band Taxi Girl,[4] directed the video for Naive Song. The video was aired for the first time in April 2000 and was received enthusiastically.[5][6]

  • Apple used Naive Song for the 2001 iBook commercial.
  • Clara Sheller, a popular French TV series, used Naive Song as the title track for two seasons.[7]
