Nansemond-Suffolk Academy is an independent school in Suffolk, Virginia, founded in 1966. In November of 2014, the academy’s board of trustees announced the launch of a $6 million campaign to help support the Harbour View campus. Donations exceeded the campaign goal, with more than $7.1 million raised. [1]. Nansemond Suffolk is the only primary school in Hampton Roads that has two campuses, one near downtown Suffolk and the other in Harbour View.

History

Nansemond-Suffolk Academy was founded as a segregation academy. The first African-American student graduated in 1999.[2]

Athletics

The Nansemond-Suffolk Academy football team was commended by the Virginia General Assembly in 2010.[3]

In November 2015, the Nansemond-Suffolk Academy football team won the Virginia Independent Schools Athletic Association Division III state championships. This was the 4th state championship for Saints football.[4]
