The Lord of the Rings: The Battle for Middle-Earth is a real-time strategy game for the PC by EALA. It uses the Sage 3D engine from Command and Conquer: Generals.

While there have been numerous other games based on The Lord Of The Rings by J. R. R. Tolkien, Battle for Middle-Earth is unique in the fact that it intended to bring the feel of a "living" middle-earth to the PC through immpressive graphics and special effects. Though lauded for it's graphics, it failed to make a major impact with critics.
