Nia is a feminine given name with multiple origins. Nia is an Arabic name (نیّة, variously transliterated niyyah, niya [ˈnɪj.ja], "intention") and refers to an Islamic concept: the intention in one's heart to do an act for the sake of God [1]. It is a Welsh variant of Niamh, an Irish name meaning "bright". Nia is also a Swahili name meaning "purpose." [2] Nia(Georgian:ნია) is a popular name in Georgia.[3] It is also a short form of names ending in "nia" such as Antonia.
