The Nigerian Economic Summit Group (NESG) was formed in 1996 as a platform for public-private sector cooperation on Nigeria's economic development. The NESG was an offshoot of the Nigerian Economic Summits (NES) which was initiated in 1993 by the Chief Ernest Shonekan-led Interim National Government. The summit has held annually since then. The NESG aims to foster open and continuous dialogues on Nigeria's economic development.

NESG'S vision is "to become Nigeria's leading private sector think-tank committed to the development of a modern globally competitive economy". It seeks to achieve this through three focus activities comprising policy advocacy, research, and communication and education.
