Notes on the melody of things is a little book written by the German author Rainer Maria Rilke in 1898 and published in the fifth volume of his collected works, between 1955 and 1966 in Frankfort and Wiesbaden. The text is divided in 40 paragraphs where the author think of a new way to do theatre, mainly by placing what he calls the background, on the forefront.
