Nouneh Sarkissian[note 1] (Armenian: Նունե Սարգսյան, born 1954) is the wife of Armenian President Armen Sarkissian and is the current First Lady of Armenia.

Early life and career

Nouneh was born in Yerevan, Armenia. Her father was a journalist at the local newspaper World of Books, and her mother was a school teacher, She met the future President of Armenia and her future spouse Armen Sarkissian at a school in Yerevan in 1968. After graduating from Yerevan State University, she worked at the Research Institute of Ancient Manuscripts in Yerevan. In 1991, she moved to London with her husband and two sons. Since she arrived in London, she has been writing articles on art, music and culture, as well as authoring stories for children. Her books have become highly popular in Armenia, and have been published in Russian, Ukrainian and English.[1][2][3]

While living in Britain, Nouneh Sarkissian and her two sons became British citizens.
