Nucleic Acids Research is a peer-reviewed scientific journal published by Oxford University Press. It covers research on nucleic acids, such as DNA and RNA, and related work. Some of its content is available under an open access license. According to the Journal Citation Reports, the journal's 2014 impact factor is 9.112. The journal publishes two yearly special issues, one dedicated to biological databases, published in January since 1993, and the other on biological web servers, published in July since 2003.

The journal charges authors an article-processing fee of £1420/$2770/€2130 (as of Feb 2016) for each article to be published plus $195/£100/€150 for each page in excess of 9.[1] There are 50% discounts for member institutions.

The journal apart from standard research papers publish annually two, special issues "Web server issue" and "Database Issue".
