Octavio Guzmán Sánchez (born November 26, 1990 in Guadalajara, Mexico) is a Mexican born American soccer player currently playing for Sacramento Republic in USL Pro.
Career
Guzmán played college soccer for two years at Los Medanos College before transferring to Chico State in 2011 where he graduated in 2013.[2]
He signed his first professional contract with USL Pro club Sacramento Republic in March, 2014.[3] On September 27, 2014 he became USL Pro champion, scoring a goal in the first half that gave the lead to the republic in the first half. But before the championship, Guzman had other remarkable moments in the season, like scoring a stoppage time goal against OC Blues that gave The Republic the 3 points. Throughout the season, Guzman fought hard for the starting position in the mid-field alongside Brazil football player, Gilberto Dos Santos.
During the 2014 season a couple MLS teams showed interest in him. However the Republic decided to not let him go. They decided to not let him go because he was becoming an important player and they wanted to maintain him to help the republic get a championship and get a step closer to mls.[citation needed]
