The Office of the Children's Advocate of Manitoba is an independent office of the Legislative Assembly of Manitoba. Its stated purpose is "to represent the rights, interests and viewpoints of children and youth who are receiving, or should be receiving, services as prescribed under The Child and Family Services Act and The Adoption Act".[1] Although its remit is limited to that category of children and young people, it and the similar bodies in the Canadian Council of Child and Youth Advocates are comparable in functions to a Children's Ombudsman.
