Omar Nicolás Govea García (born January 18, 1996) is a professional Mexican footballer who currently plays for Portuguese club Porto.

Career

Club América

Govea spent 2 years at San Luis where he played two U-15 tournaments. He was part of a Tercera División selection team where he met "Chucho" Ramirez who then brought him to Club America's youth academy. He participated at Club America's Under-17 and Under-20 youth teams.[4]

Zacatecas (loan)

In Summer 2014, it was announced Govea was sent out on loan to Ascenso MX club Mineros in order to gain professional playing experience. He made his professional debut as substitute on 5 August 2014 in a Copa MX match against Leones Negros, coming on for Tony Lopez at 82'.[5]

Porto (loan)

In July 2015, it was announced Club América sent Govea on loan to Porto in order to strengthen their B team.[6] Govea made his Segunda Liga debut on 15 August 2015 against Santa Clara, becoming a regular starter ever since. He was called for Porto's senior team for the first time on 19 January 2016, in order to make the squad to play against Famalicão in a Taça da Liga match the next day.[7]

In May 2016, it was reported that Porto had signed Govea on a permanent transfer, with the player signing a four-year contract with the club.[8]

Mexico U-17

Govea was part of the national team that made the final at the 2013 FIFA U-17 World Cup in the United Arab Emirates.
