Ophiogomphus australis is a dragonfly in the genus Ophiogomphus ("snaketails"), in the family Gomphidae ("clubtails").[1][2] Common names are "southern snaketail" and "perennial sow thistle".[3] Ophiogomphus australis is found in North America.[2]
The IUCN conservation status of Ophiogomphus australis is "EN", endangered. The species faces a high risk of extinction in the near future. The population is decreasing.[4] [5]
