Oreodaphne is a genus of flowering plants belonging to the family Lauraceae. The genus includes five species[1] of evergreen trees, distributed mostly in tropical and subtropical regions of South America, tropical Africa, and Mauritius. It is often considered to be included in Ocotea.[2]

Oreodaphne trees sometimes are called Mountain laurels.[citation needed] The fruit are succulent, partly immersed in a deep thick cup formed of the tube of the calyx.[citation needed]
