Otto Pilny was a Swiss painter. He was born in 1866 in Budweis and died in 1936 in Zürich. He became famous with the subject of Orient. He was familiar with this part of the world since he traveled there several times. He was also the court painter of the vice-king of Egypt.

Pilny's son (* 22. März 1897 in Zürich; † 17. März 1958 in Zürich) was also a painter. His works have often been wrongly attributed to his father.
