The OuterCurve Foundation is a 501(c)(6) non-profit corporation founded by but separate from Microsoft.[1] Its stated goal is to "enable the exchange of code and understanding among software companies and open source communities." It was founded on September 10, 2009 as the CodePlex Foundation, led mostly by Microsoft employees and affiliates.[2] In September 2010, they renamed themselves to the OuterCurve Foundation. In November 2010, they changed their by-laws and expanded their board.[3] They run several software projects, many of which are connected to the .NET Framework.[4][5][6][7]
