PaGaLGuY is an Indian educational website and social network for management students and B-school aspirants in India. The website releases its annual B-school ranking charts based on surveys performed on over 9,500 MBA students as well as alumni.[2]
History
The website was founded in 2002 by an Indian MBA student Allwin Agnel. Upon its launch, the website was based on free forum software templates which enabled a quick install and the start of a new discussion forum.[3]
In 2007, PaGaLGuY launched India's largest B-school rankings initiative. The project was a response to a growing need of both MBA aspirants and recruiters for a credible rating of B-schools.[4]
On December 12, 2009, community members announced protest against the Common Admission Test (CAT), a computer-based testing held in India. The students called the test unfair, inconsistent and chaotic, and alleged that the questions were leaked even as the examination was underway.[5]
In 2010, PaGaLGuY created and launched MBA application service, allowing students to register on the website and apply to multiple colleges thorough a single platform. When applied, application status can be tracked, while student can correspond with institutes and pay application fee via the portal.
In July 2012, the website was relaunched incorporating social networking features to its platform, thus changing from forum website to social network.
