Parotodus is an extinct genus of mackerel shark belonging to the family Lamnidae.

Fossil records

This genus is known in the fossil records from the Miocene to the Quaternary (age range: from 15.97 to 0.781 million years ago). Fossils are found in the marine strata of Italy, Madagascar, Spain, Japan, Malta and United States. [1]
