Major General Paul Woolever Newgarden (February 14, 1892 – July 14, 1944)[2] was a senior United States Army officer. Prior to his death he commanded the 10th Armored Division. The 10th Armored Division "Tigers” played a key role in several engagements during World War II. While Major General William H. H. Morris took the "Tigers" into battle, Newgarden was the first to command and train them. Newgarden died in a plane crash over Chattanooga, Tennessee while returning to Fort Knox.
