Perle Morroni (born 15 October 1997) is a French professional footballer who plays as a left-back for San Diego Wave FC of the National Women's Soccer League (NWSL).[1]
Club career
[edit]Morroni is a youth academy graduate of Paris Saint-Germain.[2] On 22 January 2019, Morroni signed a new two year contract with the club.[3]
On 10 January 2018, Morroni joined Barcelona on loan until the end of the season.[4]
In July 2021, she joined Lyon on a three-year contract.[5] During her time at Lyon, she won the 2021–22 UEFA Women's Champions League with the club.[6]
On 22 August 2024, NWSL club San Diego Wave signed Morroni to a contract through the 2026 season.[7] She made her debut for the club against Portland Thorns in the CONCACAF W Champions Cup on 18 September 2024.[8] Morroni made her league debut against Chicago Red Stars on 21 September 2024.[9]
International career
[edit]Morroni was part of the France U19s that won the 2016 UEFA Women's Under-19 Championship. She was also named in the team of the tournament.[10]
Morroni was first called up to the senior French national team in June 2016; before being called up in September 2017, but had to withdraw due to injury. She made her debut for the France national team on 7 March 2020 in a 1–0 win against Brazil.[11] Morroni scored her first international goal against Kazakhstan on 1 December 2020, scoring in the 67th minute.[12]
