Gaultheria mucronata is a species of plant in the family Ericaceae, is a native to southern Chile.[1] It produces purple plum-shaped fruits. Commonly known as "Chaura". While the fruits are edible, they are tasteless. In North America this frost-tolerant species is often grown as an ornamental plant.
