Philip M. Halpern (born April 17, 1956) is an American lawyer from New York and is an announced nominee to be a United States District Judge of the United States District Court for the Southern District of New York.

Education

Halpern was born in Derby, Connecticut on April 17, 1956.[1] He received his Bachelor of Science, magna cum laude, from Fordham University, and his Juris Doctor at Pace University School of Law.[2]

Legal career

Upon graduation from law school, he clerked for Judge Irving Ben Cooper of the United States District Court for the Southern District of New York. He is currently a managing partner of Collier, Halpern & Newberg, LLP, where his practice focuses on commercial, employment, real estate, and securities litigation.[2]

Teaching

He is also an adjunct professor at the Elizabeth Haub School of Law at Pace University, teaching “The Anatomy of a Trial: The Burden of Proof.”[2]

Intent to nominate to district court

On October 10, 2018 President Trump announced his intent to nominate Halpern to serve as a United States District Judge for the United States District Court for the Southern District of New York.
