Pleasant Street station is an aboveground at-grade station on the Green Line "B" Branch of the MBTA subway system in Boston, Massachusetts. It is located in the median of Commonwealth Avenue, on the western side of its intersection with Harry Agganis Way (on the north side) and Pleasant Street (on the south side, extending into Brookline). It serves the western end of the John Hancock Student Village at Boston University.
Pleasant Street is the sixth station for outbound "B" Branch trains, after the Blandford Street Incline and the branch's split from the "C" and "D" Branches at Kenmore. It was also a station on the "A" Branch to Watertown Yard until that branch closed in 1969.
Stop consolidation
In October 2014, the MBTA began holding meetings for a proposal to consolidate four stops - Boston University West, St. Paul Street, Pleasant Street, and Babcock Street - located near Boston University's West Campus. The four stops, which are not handicapped accessible, would be turned into two fully accessible stops as part of a planned redesign of Commonwealth Avenue between the BU Bridge and Packard's Corner.[2] Pleasant Street and Babcock Street stations would be consolidated into one station in the block between the two streets.[3]
