Poko Ingram
Poko Ingram (born 14 February 1919) was a politician and community worker in the Cook Islands. In 1961, she became the country's first woman elected as a member of Parliament.[1]
Ingram was born in Rarotonga and attended Avarua School. From 1946 to 1949 she lived in Samoa, followed by a year in New Zealand. In 1951 she returned to the Cook Islands. In 1961 she was elected to the Cook Islands Legislative Assembly.[2]
Ingram was the secretary of the Rarotonga Child Welfare group, and also founded and was the first president of the Cook Islands Women's Association.[3]
