Polycarpaea is a genus of plant in family Caryophyllaceae. The genus was named by Jean-Baptiste Lamarck in 1792. The etylomolgy is of Greek name (Πολυκαρπαία Polykarpaia) meaning "many fruits" due to its plant that contains a fruit like seed and smells like fruits but does not contain any.
