An aneurysm is a swelling of an artery. A popliteal aneurysm is a swelling of the popliteal artery. People rarely have any symptoms due to the aneurysm. It is usually discovered on routine physical examination by a physician. The cause of these aneurysms is unknown. They tend to occur in older men and women (more common in men) and occur in both legs about 50% of the time.[1]
Treatment
It is unclear whether stenting or open surgery is a better for those with aneurysms that are not causing symptoms.[2]
