- 1934 - Washington Senators catcher Moe Berg sets an American League record by playing in his 117th consecutive game without an error.
- 1955 - At Ebbets Field, the Brooklyn Dodgers sets a Major League record with their 10th consecutive victory from the start of the season.
- 1961 - The Minnesota Twins play their first home game, losing to the new expansion team Washington Senators, 5 - 3.
- 1966 - The Chicago Cubs trade Bob Buhl and Larry Jackson for Ferguson Jenkins, Adolfo Phillips, and John Herrnstein.
- 1967 - After 737 consecutive games, the Los Angeles Dodgers were rained out for the first time since moving to Los Angeles.
- 1972 - The Texas Rangers play the first home game in franchise history.
