Rabindra Mishra (Template:Lang-ne) was former editor-in-chief of BBC Nepali Service,[2] writer, philanthropist, poet, actor and the founder of entirely voluntarily run global charity, Help Nepal Network which has chapters in 14 countries.[3] He left BBC in February 28, 2017 with vision to enter in Nepalese politics.

Education

Mishra received his Master's Degree in Major English from Tribhuvan University in Nepal. He then went to Punjab University, Pakistan, getting the Master Degree in Journalism. After that he joined London University and majored in International politics.[4][5]

Career

Rabindra Mishra has worked with Nepal Television and Pakistan's leading English language daily, The News International. He joined BBC World Service in 1995 as a producer with BBC Nepali Service. Later he worked on English language flagship programmes, including World Today and Newshour. After that he was appointed as the chief editor of BBC Nepali Service in 2006.[6][7]

Political career

On 28 February 2017, Mishra resigned from BBC Nepali Service to enter politics. In a statement, he noted that the reason behind his move was to "create a common platform to bring together honest and capable Nepalis from all walks of life for the sake of clean politics to transform Nepal." [8][9]

The next day (1 March), Rabindra Mishra approached the Election Commission of Nepal with an application to reserve the name Sajha Party (Template:Lang-ne) (English translation: "Common Party") as the formal name, and weighing scale as the symbol of his yet-to-be formed political party.[10]
