The Raid at Renacer Prison was an attack on the El Renacer prison in Gamboa, Panama, by units of the 82nd Airborne Division of the U.S. Army on December 20, 1989, during the United States invasion of Panama.[1] The raid freed 64 hostages.[2][3][4][5] The US forces consisted of 80 paratroopers along with 3 UH-1 helicopters, 2 OH-58 scout helicopters, 1 (LCM) landing craft medium, and 1 AH-1 Cobra.
