Richard M. Elliot

Richard McCall Elliot (12 April 1888 - 19 March 1918) was an officer in the United States Navy in World War I.

Elliot, born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, graduated from the Naval Academy 10 July 1909. Lieutenant Commander Elliot was killed aboard Manley (DD-74) on 19 March 1918 when her depth charges exploded in collision with a British ship in the convoy Manley was escorting.

Namesake

The destroyer USS Elliot (DD-146) was named for him.
