Rodney Parade is a multi-use stadium in the city of Newport, South Wales. It is currently used mostly for rugby matches and is the home ground of Newport RFC and Newport Gwent Dragons. The stadium holds 11,700 people. In 1875 the Newport Athletic Club was created, and two years later they secured the use of land at Rodney Parade from Lord Tredegar for their cricket, tennis, rugby and athletics teams.

The cricket pitch at the ground was the home of Monmouthshire County Cricket Club between 1895 to 1934, and between 1935 and 1965 held first-class Glamorgan games.

Development

In early January 2007 the Newport Gwent Dragons board announced plans for the development of the ground with a new 1,400-seater stand with bars and restaurants and more facilities for fans and players. This stand would be built on the temporary seating area currently named "the Family Stand".

Future

The "Dragons" currently play all their home matches at Rodney Parade, although plans have been mooted for a New Newport stadium.
