Trollope was involved in the earliest days of the Internet and the computer software industry, getting a summer job at 16, where he was hunting the first computer viruses.[citation needed] Later, he was hired by Peter Norton Computing Inc. in Santa Monica, CA to work on the Norton products. During his time there, Trollope helped build the Norton business from a small software utilities company, to the global market leader in consumer security, and over $2 billion in annual revenue.[citation needed]

Trollope holds a variety of patents in operating systems and Internet security.[citation needed]

Trollope lives in San Francisco, where he is involved in the growing high-tech startup community.
