SMS Kronprinz was a German unique armored frigate built for the Prussian Navy in 1867. Kronprinz was laid down on 6 May 1867 by the Samuda Brothers shipyard at Cubitt Town, London, United Kingdom. The ship served in the subsequent Imperial Navy until she was turned into a hulk in 1901. The ship was later scrapped in 1921.

Design

The ship was 89m long, had a beam of 15m, and a draught of 7.4m. The ship displaced 5570 tons, and had a top speed of 12 knots.[1] The ship had steam propulsion, but was also rigged with sails for additional power. The crew numbered approximately 537 men. The armament consisted of 16 21 cm cannons.
