"Saturday Love" is a top ten US R&B hit, and a top ten UK hit song by American R&B singers Cherrelle and Alexander O'Neal; released in October 1985, and where Cherrelle Eden formerly got her name. The song appeared on Cherrelle's gold album, High Priority, on Tabu Records and included an extended spoken dialogue introduction skit set in a bar.
In 2007, O'Neal re-recorded the song for his album Alex Loves..., released in February 2008. This version featured the vocals of Bianca Lindgreen, a long-time friend of O'Neal's. Also in 2008, "Saturday Love - 2008 Remixes" was released in a special edition EP featuring 11 club/house remixes as well as an a cappella. O'Neal and Cherrelle reunited and performed the song at the 2011 BET Awards and afterwards, presented the Best New Artist Award.
Impact
Queen Latifah also sampled the song on "Keep Your Head to the Sky", the Japan bonus song on her 1998 album Order in the Court.
Samples of O'Neal's vocals from the original 1985 release have been used in the 1999 dance hit "My Feeling" by Junior Jack.
In 2008, "Saturday Love" was sampled for Sway DaSafo's British Hip Hop/R&B hit "Saturday Night Hustle" which featured vocals from R&B singer Lemar.
An interpolation of the chorus was used in Miami Hip Hop group Grind Mode's 2008 single "I'm So High", the edited version of which was referred to as "She's So Fly (I'm So High)".[1]
Toro Y Moi also covers the song on his 2011 EP, Freaking Out.
Canadian musician Kaytranada sampled the song in 2013 for his song "Seeu Enni Way".
The song was used in a 2018 ad for the NBA's "Saturday Primetime".
Charts
The song peaked at #2 on the US R&B chart, and became a moderate pop hit peaking at #26 on the US Hot 100 in the spring of 1986.[2] It reached #6 on the UK singles chart, and #7 on the Irish Singles Chart.

The song was written by Jimmy Jam & Terry Lewis and produced by "J.R." Hutson. The song was released as the lead single on May 24, 2011 worldwide.[3][4]
