Sean M. Ryan is a Democratic New York State Assembly member from Buffalo, New York. Ryan, an attorney, was previously chief of staff to the County Legislature.

Early life

Ryan was educated at SUNY Fredonia and then the Brooklyn Law School. He was thereafter admitted to practice law in New York State. According to his biography, Ryan's legal career focused on anti-discrimination and labour law cases.[1]

Political career

On September 13, 2011, Ryan was elected during a special election to the New York State Assembly, succeeding long time assemblyman Sam Hoyt[2] in the 144th Assembly District in Buffalo and Grand Island.

In 2012 he was elected to 149th district. He was supported by the 1199SEIU United Healthcare Workers East.[3]
