Segheneytī (sometimes anglicized as Segheneity and known also as Saganeiti, Seganeiti, Seganeyti, Segeleyti, Segeneyti, Segeneytī, Segheneiti)[1] is a small town in the Southern Region of Eritrea. The town lies on the road between Asmara and Senafe.

In the Tigrinya language its name is ሰገነይቲ,[2] ሠገነይቲ in the older orthography.[3]

In Arabic it is called سخناتي.

Religion

It is the seat of a bishopric, the Eparchy of Segheneyti, a suffragan of the Archeparchy of Asmara, the metropolitan see of the Eritrean Catholic Church.

Some minority Muslims live near the shopping center.
