Selina Chilton (born 19 September 1981) is an English actress who has appeared in theatre and television productions. Chilton is best known for her role as Ruth Pearce in the BBC soap opera; Doctors, which began in April 2008 and ended on 17 December 2010.
Personal life
Chilton was born in Leicester to Michael and Karen Chilton, and, as a child, trained to be a dancer. At sixteen, she embarked on an Arts Educational Schools course studying acting, singing and dancing. She began her professional career at age nineteen.[1] She was married to actor Dominic Marsh, who has appeared in Doctors as Smithey, Ruth's boyfriend but have separated. Chilton and Marsh have two children Beatrix and Tristan.
Career
She has had several stage roles most notably playing the lead in Moira Buffini's adaption of Marianne Dreams at the Almeida Theatre.[2] Chilton most recently left the role of Ruth Pearce in BBC Birmingham's daytime soap Doctors.[3]
In The British Soap Awards 2009 Chilton was nominated, but did not win, the Best Newcomer, for her role as Ruth Pearce.[4]
Chilton was nominated for her role as Best Newcomer at the National Television Awards 2010, but came fifth, 8 votes behind Hollyoaks actress Bronagh Waugh.Source: ITV
