Shogo Akiyama (秋山 翔吾, Akiyama Shōgo, born April 16, 1988 in Yokosuka, Kanagawa) is a Japanese professional baseball outfielder for the Saitama Seibu Lions in Japan's Nippon Professional Baseball.

Carrer

Saitama Seibu Lions selected him with the third selection in the 2010 NPB draft [jp].[1]

In 2015, Akiyama set the NPB record for hits in a single season with 216,[2] surpassing the 214 collected by Matt Murton of the Hanshin Tigers in 2010.

He was selected to the 2018 NPB All-Star game [jp].[3]

International Career

He was selected Japan national baseball team at the 2015 WBSC Premier12 and 2017 World Baseball Classic.

On August 20, 2018, he was selected 2018 MLB Japan All-Star Series.[4]
