Gold medal – first place 1980 Moscow Half Middleweight

Shota Khabareli (Georgian: შოთა ხაბარელი; born December 26, 1958) is a Georgian judoka who competed for the Soviet Union in the 1980 Summer Olympics.

In 1980 he won the gold medal in the half-middleweight class.

He is bronze madalist world championat in Moscow 1983, two times silver medalist European championat in Brussels 1979 and Rostock 1982. bronze medalist in Debrecen 1981 and Paris 1983.

He is a champion of the international tournaments in Warsaw 1978 and Hungary in 1979. He is also a silver medalist in Budapest 1985 and bronze medalist of the Jigoro Kano Cup in Tokyo 1982.

He is famous for the KNEE LIFT THROW,[1] also known in sumo as yagura nage.
