Sidney Rosenthal (1907–1979), from Richmond Hill, New York, is credited with inventing what is now known as a Magic Marker in 1953.[1]

Rosenthal is referenced in an episode of Red Dwarf as a suggestion to the name of an inventor starting with R. Instead the described inventor was Archimedes.
